Thedark's interviews with artists, games and movies makers

Hello Newgrounders. Today i am giving you ToonHole's interview. ToonHole is a funny person and an awesome artist as well

Hello ToonHole introduce yourself to us

My name is Chris. I do www.toonhole.com every Monday, Wednesday, Friday with 3 of my best friends.

Describe yourself in five words

I can't really count very well.

When and why did you start drawing?

As soon as I was old enough to stop eating the crayons. I guess I would spend a lot of disciplinary time in my room.

What is the best thing about being an artist?
The fact that I do something I really enjoy every single day of the year. Seriously.

After finishing a drawing have you ever felt like living inside it?

I already have been living inside it. That's a great part about drawing is that it's so intoxicating. When you get in the zone, you completely immerse yourself into that world. Sometimes I'll go 8 hours without realizing I haven't eaten or gone to the bathroom.

Do have any favorite artist in the Portal?

I'm old school. I've always grown up following MindChamber's stuff. He has such solid draftsmanship, coupled with great inventive ideas, and he's an awesome guy. Can't beat his combo.

What do you do for a living? Are you happy with your work?

I work at animation studios in LA. Right now I'm at Disney. My work is great, but doesn't satisfy my own creative itch.

What was the happiest moment in your life?

This interview.

How has your life been different than what you'd imagined?

I just broke up with my girlfriend of 2 years and I thought I'd be better at playing guitar at this point. But meh.

Do you have any regrets?

My dad told me to never have regrets in life. Best advice I've ever gotten. That's why I don't sleep with fat chicks.

If you ever leave Newgrounds how would you like to be remembered?

As that asshole that left Newgrounds that nobody liked.

What is your greatest fear?

Commitment.

Have you ever felt like giving up Newgrounds?

I did for a couple years while I was in school and just had no time. But now I'm back. I'm back, baby, and there's no stopping me.

What is your motto?

"A witty saying proves nothing." - Voltaire

Give new artists here some advice

There's no secret to this shit. If you wanna be good at something, you gotta spend a bunch of time doing it. Wanna draw well? Well, talk to people who draw like how you'd like to, ask them what they studied, and then study that stuff harder than they did. That's how you'll be better.

And no excuses for your age. The younger you start, the better off you'll be. And someday when you're a lot better than me, remember your old pal Chris and hire me for lots of money.

And below is a funny drawing from ToonHole called Santa Claus preps

Sucks Chris left his GF, but he's got a paying gig at Disney, so he's still got options and friends who are as mental as he is. I was really worried he was a starving artist! The wit in his work should really be in newspapers or in a big, overpriced, glossy coffee-table book.
